Convict Lake Campground Best Campsites
This is one of our favorite places.. it is closed this year for renovations I believe?
It is a nice park! And correct - it (unfortunately) is closed for the year because they are working on the road and bridge. All campsites (in photos) won't change though.
As someone who camps every summer with multiple families going on for 10 years now, this is truly helpful when we all argue about where to book a spot/site. Thanks for doing this!
You are so welcome and thanks for the kind comments.
Do the sites have fire pits?
Yes - each campsite has a table, fire ring/grill.
@@CampsitePhotos thank you!
Thanks again for sharing. We booked a spot after watching this video. Would encourage folks watching to drive a minute longer and book a spot at MONA CAMPGROUND across the lake. Night and day difference in terms of privacy, shade, landscape, vibe.
Thanks Bob! We were just about there getting photos and unfortunately a little early to get Mona done. The road gate was closed (about 1.5 miles from camp). We'll get it next time!
Do you have any photos of the group site?
Unfortunately we didn't get pictures of the group campsites for some reason. Sorry about that!
@@CampsitePhotos no worries! By any chance do you know if it is easy access to the water or close to it? I can't really tell by the campground map
Great...can[t wait to see what our campsite is like in person! Thanks!
Nice photos!! 👍🏻Great small state park!
Thanks so much!
Thanks for showing this and take the time, it really helps to know in advance how our campground spots looks like❤
You are welcome and glad it was helpful. Sure is a beautiful area up there.
Are we allowed to drive through the campground to check it out 1st?
Should be able to. If ranger or camp host is there (at check in), you can let them know you're just driving through to check it out.
Thanks! We are visiting this area soon.
Have fun!
So I don't really have anything great to say about this video. All you are showing us is a table and fire ring. It would be really helpful if you could show what the length of the pad looks like and if you could show if it is a pull through. I have seen other campsite videos and you have done a great job, this one, not so much.
Thanks for your input and I agree! Generally we try and get as much of the parking spur and camping area (table/fire ring) as possible - shooting with a wide angle lense. Looks like the photographer didn't get it done this time. I'll see if we can reshoot later this year and post a new video.
Amazing btw
Thanks! 😁

Thank you!
You're welcome!
Great photos. What campsites are full hook ups?
Thanks Tony-49er, but upon further review it looks like there's been some changes at the campground and we need to reshoot (later this year). There are not any campsites with full hookups, but most sites have electric/water hookups in the A, B, C, E, F and G loops. D loop also has some hookups: 2, 8, 10, 12. You can check availability/reserve here: web2.myvscloud.com/wbwsc/camercedidwt.wsc/search.html?Action=Start&SubAction=&_csrf_token=cj61716M09072D2E1D2C2U4H5Z5K556I076A615A4X1K72424S42045Q4X4X67055R3S5C4Y725X5Y624P0K5P4R5M5X1C5R604N59725N656O4O6S614M5I6N6N5K6458&begindate=06%2F18%2F2024&nights=1&primarycode=10ELC&type=&subtype=&category=&begintime=+4%3A00+PM&endtime=+2%3A00+PM&keywordoption=Match+One&features=MCS&quantity=1&secondarycode=&features1=&features2=&features3=&features4=&features5=&features6=&features7=&features8=&timeblocksearch=&availability=All&keyword=&blockstodisplay=3&display=Detail&search=yes&page=1&module=RN&multiselectlist_value=

Well done! Now we don't have to go there...Thanks!
But it's worth it if you have the time and energy!
Beautiful area!
It really is!
Cut the music! wow.
great place
Planning on taking a trip from Lansing Illinois to there
Thanks for the video going soon! Is there always a camp host here? If not how do I book on my cell when I arrive if theirs no service?
You're welcome and have fun! There is always a camp host there during open season. There's also a 'self pay' station. I'd check link below before you go to see if there's availability when you're planning to go: www.recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/232080
Was able to sneak in some reservations for this summer. Thx for the video !
You're welcome and glad you were able to get some campground reservations - have fun!
Thanks for doing this video, helps me figure out the best spots for tent camping.
Our pleasure!
Also is it close to water
The creek runs right by the campground and has some nice fishing. Potable (drinking) water is also available at the campground.
Hello is this place secluded from other campers ? I just don’t want to be bunched up
The campsites tend to have a good amount of room between neighbors and are fairly private.
Hi where do you park for site 6? I have a 32' will it work?
Campsite #6 has a parking spur next to it (on the left in the image), but not sure how big it is. Sorry about that.
Thanks for showing the Hiker/Biker Camp. ✌🏼
Do you remember how far the lake was from the campground? I can’t find anything on the map that says, but looking at the sites, I can’t see the lake and that is what we want, thanks
Hi Jerry, As the crow flies, the closest point from the lake to the campground entrance is about 600 feet. From the campground entrance to the day use/beach area is about 2,100 feet (down the camp road).
Thanks so much. At our local state park, when it was built by the CCC’s, the campground was just up the hill from swift creek, which is a very active body of water. A few 100 yards, it empties into a gorgeous lake, but rather than leaving this camping area, they moved it at least a Mile inland, how silly. We live surrounded by woods, my wife doesn’t want to camp in the woods, lol. Beautiful lakes for visual pleasure and close by to fish, but they make it where you have to pack up and drive to the lake, UGH!
GORGEOUS primitive setting. Thx!
It is in a very pretty area - right along the Metolius River.
Thanks!
You're welcome!
I’m going to this campground coming weekend. Can’t wait..
Have fun and hope you get some good (sunshine) weather!
How is spot 20? Can’t really tell from the video. I reserved that spot in a few weeks.
I think you'll like campsite #20. It is one of the more secluded campsites set in the trees and off by itself. It's a little on the small side, but the tent pad is about 12x12 feet.
Wow!
A beautiful location in Yellowstone National Park.
Please show hiker/Biker campsites. ✌🏼
Do you by chance know what that not sure what to call it on lot 22
Looks like a pretty innovative pop-up trailer!
Yes it does but it looks neat. I was wondering how I folds up..
Im ready to pack up and go to Oregon These pictures are amazing.
Thank you so much for these videos. They are beautiful. ❤
You are so welcome!
This is my favorite part of Oregon. The campgrounds along the Metolius River have trails between them, and racoons will definitely raid your camp at night if you don't secure your stuff. Don't be confused; coons can open latches and such, so store your food in your car or an actual lockbox.
Love the content, keep it up!
Thanks, will do!
Looks perfect!
I watched this whole thing to get to #107 and it stops at 106 🙈
Shoot - how'd that happen? Sorry about that. I see we didn't get photos for sites 107-110. Will try and get those and update vid later this year.
@@CampsitePhotosThat's okay! 😊 Appreciate the quick reply!
Very cool place. We went and did zip line one year for my birthday 🎂. It was great 👍. So fun. Amen ❤️ 👍
Is it recommended to travel there with a Tesla?
Not sure what the range is on your Tesla or where the closest EV Charging Station is located (maybe Shaver Lake?), but from Shaver Lake you'd take Kaiser Pass Road for about 42 miles to the campground. Kaiser Pass Road is narrow and mostly paved (with lots of pot holes).
This is so awesome! Hats off to you for doing this!
You're welcome and thank you!
Thank you.
You're welcome!
I love your guys's site so much it's always such a helpful advantage
Thank you John! Really appreciate the kind words and support.
The Music is a bit much.
Sorry about that. Sometimes our music selection misses the mark.
This doesn't seem to match the pictures on recreation.gov, maybe the renovation changed things up.
Thanks for the heads up! We took the photos in late 2017 so perhaps a renovation did change some things. I'll double check but regardless - we are planning to get new photos this fall and will post an updated video soon after. And also, FYI - we're going to be photographing all campsites at Tuolumne Meadows this fall. It has been renovated and is suppose to open in 2025.
I've been to this campground (black River) I wasn't impressed. It's out in the middle of nowhere. No privacy between camp sites. The time we were there, we came across a very strange young man, that my wife thought he was going to rob us.
